At 400 signatures it’s printed, with the count by town, and handed to the Arkadelphia City Board of Directors at a public meeting.
Arkadelphia’s 2023 water quality report shows chlorine byproducts (TTHM) at a running annual average of 54 parts per billion, under the federal limit of 80; single readings ranged up to 85. The city draws from the Ouachita River, which carries natural organic matter that forms these byproducts. At four U.S. riverbank-filtration sites, dissolved organic carbon fell 55% on average. We ask the city to pilot a natural pre-filter for one season and publish the results.

This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; in Arkansas and most states that takes ink signatures from registered voters. Signatures are counted, not verified — one per browser; the delivered copy removes duplicates. Like everything here, petitions can’t campaign for candidates or ballot measures, or name county staff.
